Saint Isaac Church

4455 Jason St. Denver, Co. 80211

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it abundantly.” (John 10:10). What is abundant life? It is the life we have inherited from the apostles, the bishops (especially our ++Archbishop P. Gregory Schell), the saints, and the believers who came before us. Christianity is about life—life now and forever—with God.
With this said, the faith family of Saint Isaac has a tremendous opportunity this year. We are going to take the lead in launching a project called Life on Life 2.0 which will ensure the on-going spiritual formation of the youngest members of our community (ages 5-18). Life on Life 2.0 is a different take on catechism because it shifts our work from being in a classroom presenting information, to solidifying spiritual sponsors that will follow them through their 18th year in real life settings.

The formation team is comprised of members of the Saint Isaac Clergy, willing parents, etc. We are inviting you to include your child in this process that will work in 3 year cycles.

The formation will occur twice per month (each session lasting two hours) and will occur at different locations. It will begin in October and extend through May…there will not be formal formation offered for young people during the months of June – September.

The youth & parents will be working through the text, The Way, the Truth, and the Life which will offer basic instruction regarding Orthodox Christianity. Each instructor will be teaching from the Divine Nature perspective and will help put lessons into context for the youth at their age.

The workbook itself is a collaborative effort of many churches and is the work of the Orthodox Christian Education Commission. The workbooks are available for purchase for $16.95 each + S&H. We are asking parents to purchase a workbook for each student participating in formation. Youth can also find sponsors to help pay for their workbooks!
While this may be a steep expense at first, the workbook will be used over the next 3 years – provided it holds together. You can order now by calling 1-800-464-2744 and asking for the formation book The Way The Truth and The Life (black book with the icon of Jesus in the center).  There is no additional cost for formation outside of purchasing the workbook.

We ask you keep this very important endeavor and the children/youth of Saint Isaac in your prayers. Our greatest hope and desire is that the generational relay of the Holy Faith will be as seamless as possible as a result of our efforts to form the next generation.

In addition to this letter, I am including the Spiritual Benchmarks as outline by our ++Archbishop P. Gregory Schell for the three stages of confirmation (7, 13, 18). These are the general guidelines by which we measure a child’s growth in the Holy Faith.

If your family has any questions or would like a sit down meeting with me, I am available to come to your home or schedule a time for you to come into the office. Again, together we will make this coming year’s formation a success and will lay the foundation for generations to come.

If you have any questions or need any additional support, do not hesitate to contact me directly 303-808-2019 - anthony@divineid.com.

May the grace and peace of our Lord cover and fill you and your family all the days of your life!
In the stead and mercy of Christ,
Fr. Anthony+
